Project Expeditor - Houston, TX

About the role

This role independently investigates and evaluates suppliers and expedites high-dollar value, unique, and specialty construction materials and equipment. It involves the coordination of logistical issues and has a direct impact on cost containment, efficiency, and profitability.

Responsibilities

• Consults with engineering and construction management to clarify material need dates.
• Discusses needs with suppliers, reviews alternate suggestions, and makes recommendations to project management regarding vendor data and better deliveries.
• Consults with suppliers and construction management regarding need dates of equipment.
• Creates reports and other procurement documents.
• Obtains routine cost information for estimating purposes.
• Solicits information from suppliers regarding their capabilities and qualifications and updates the supplier database of information.
• Aids in the evaluation of a supplier’s performance.
• Understands and coordinates logistical problems to facilitate successful resolution.
• Captures Source Inspection timing and issues with relevant personnel.

Requirements

• Minimum of five (5) years related procurement experience.
• Proficiency in typing and standard Microsoft Office products.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education normally requires a 4-year degree in Business Administration (or related curriculum).
• In lieu of a degree, 5 years of equivalent experience in construction-related procurement activities is acceptable.

Skills

• The ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical bulletins, and government regulations.
• The ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• The ability to effectively deliver oral presentations and respond to questions from groups of managers, engineers, clients, and suppliers.
• The ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume, and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
