Project Executive
About the role
The Project Executive provides executive leadership and accountability for construction projects from initial pursuit through project closeout. This role ensures projects are pursued strategically, planned intelligently, executed safely, and delivered profitably. Reporting to the Building Group Leader and working closely with senior project leadership, the Project Executive supports TRICO’s growth by setting projects up for success from day one, strengthening client relationships, and driving consistent, disciplined project delivery aligned with TRICO’s mission of Building Beyond the Building.
Responsibilities
- Lead preconstruction and estimating efforts from opportunity identification through contract award
- Evaluate subcontractor bids, negotiate scope and pricing, and support buyout strategies
- Partner with TRICO Leadership on pursuit strategy
- Provide executive oversight of assigned projects from turnover through closeout
- Ensure disciplined execution of schedules, budgets, cost controls, and change management
- Monitor margin performance, billing, AR/AP, and overall financial health of projects
- Drive buyout savings, margin improvement, and proactive risk management
- Lead issue escalation and support timely resolution of high-risk items
- Serve as a key client partner from concept to completion
- Build strong client relationships that support repeat and referral business
- Support growth in core markets including food, manufacturing, and commercial construction
- Lead and mentor project teams through coaching, feedback, and performance management
- Support succession planning and team growth
- Champion TRICO’s safety culture across all phases of work
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
Requirements
- Proven leadership experience on complex commercial or industrial construction projects
- Strong estimating and preconstruction expertise
- Experience with Design-Build and alternative delivery methods
- Demonstrated financial acumen and project controls expertise
- Ability to lead teams through ambiguity and high-stakes decisions
- Strong communication skills with clients, field teams, and executive leadership
- Commitment to client service, team development, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive design-build construction project management experience
- At least 5 years of experience leading and managing high-performing project teams
- Demonstrated experience in client acquisition, pursuits, and business development
- Experience using Bid2Win / Track, or equivalent, for estimating and production tracking
- Proficiency with Autodesk Build, equivalent, for project management and field coordination
- Familiarity/experience using Oracle Primavera Cloud (OPC), or equivalent, for project scheduling and controls

Pay
$165,000–$195,000, depending on experience and qualifications, plus bonus eligibility.
Schedule
This role involves both office and jobsite environments and may require travel to active construction sites in varying weather and working conditions. Location: Based in Burlington, Washington, with work performed at project sites in surrounding areas. Travel: Some travel to prospective and active jobsites required. Vehicle & Equipment: TRICO provides a company vehicle and fuel, along with the tools and resources needed to perform the role effectively.
