Position Summary
The Project Executive, Data Centers is responsible for leading, coordinating, and delivering multiple large-scale, mission-critical data center projects across Building US. This role operates as a senior leader accountable for overall project performance, client relationships, and business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery Oversight
- Lead and oversee multiple data center projects, ensuring alignment with Building US standards for safety, quality, schedule, and cost
- Provide strategic direction to project teams across all phases including preconstruction, execution, commissioning, and closeout
- Serve as a senior resource to teams in resolving complex project challenges, including cost, schedule, quality, and risk management
- Conduct regular project reviews and audits to ensure financial accuracy, schedule adherence, and overall team health
Data Center Strategy & Mission-Critical Execution
- Ensure successful delivery of mission-critical facilities, including hyperscale, enterprise, and colocation data centers
- Oversee integration of complex MEP systems including electrical distribution, cooling infrastructure, redundancy systems, and commissioning requirements
- Partner with General Superintendents and MEP leaders to ensure execution strategies support uptime, performance, and client expectations
- Drive alignment between design, construction, and commissioning to ensure seamless project turnover
Preconstruction & Pursuit Leadership
- Lead pursuit strategy and actively participate in identifying and securing new data center opportunities
- Partner with Business Development, Marketing, and Preconstruction teams to lead proposals, estimating, and client presentations
- Demonstrate strong conceptual estimating capability and deep understanding of mission-critical cost drivers
- Lead negotiation of contracts with owners and trade partners to mitigate risk and optimize project outcomes
Financial Performance & Risk Management
- Own project financial performance, ensuring accurate forecasting, reporting, and profitability across all assigned projects
- Guide teams on buyout strategies, subcontractor selection, and cost management practices
- Identify and mitigate project risks proactively, ensuring alignment with contract terms and company objectives
- Drive strategies that enhance fee opportunities and optimize financial outcomes
Client Leadership & Business Development
- Own and develop senior-level client relationships across the data center and mission-critical market
- Ensure project teams maintain strong, long-term partnerships with clients, design teams, and trade partners
- Drive high levels of client satisfaction and repeat business
- Represent Building US as a trusted advisor and partner in the delivery of complex projects
Team Leadership & Talent Development
- Attract, lead, coach, and develop high-performing project teams, including Project Managers, Superintendents, and support staff
- Build and scale teams capable of delivering complex, high-growth data center projects
- Create a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Support leadership development and succession planning across the organization
Operational Excellence & Innovation
- Promote and ensure consistent use of Building US resources and best practices, including VDC, Lean construction, sustainability, and prefabrication strategies
- Drive adoption of innovative construction methodologies and technologies to improve efficiency and outcomes
- Ensure consistent execution of Building US policies, procedures, and operational standards
Safety, Quality & Culture
- Champion Building US’s safety-first culture and ensure industry-leading safety performance across all projects
- Ensure quality standards and inspection processes are consistently executed
- Act as an ambassador of Building US culture, values, and leadership expectations
What You’ll Bring
- 14+ years of experience in construction, with significant experience in data center or mission-critical projects
- Proven success leading multiple large, complex projects simultaneously
- Strong experience in preconstruction, estimating, and contract negotiation
- Deep understanding of construction financials, forecasting, and risk management
- OSHA certification required (OSHA 10 minimum; OSHA 30 preferred)
- Strong business development capability with an established network in the data center or mission-critical market
- Demonstrated success managing profitable projects and delivering strong financial outcomes
- Deep knowledge of MEP systems, commissioning processes, and mission-critical construction requirements
- Strong leadership and team development skills, with experience managing large, cross-functional teams
- Advanced understanding of contract structures, risk mitigation, and GMP delivery models
- Excellent communication and executive presence with the ability to influence at all levels
- Strong industry reputation with clients, consultants, and trade partners
- Deep expertise in data center and mission-critical construction
