Full-time position based in Peru, IN.
About the Role
Lead large-scale, complex technical projects within the food industry. This role offers the opportunity to lead a team of engineers both directly and indirectly, overseeing the design, development, and implementation of engineering solutions. Work independently on most tasks while providing leadership on complex technical challenges.
Responsibilities
- Develop engineering designs, material specifications, and project cost estimates.
- Conduct feasibility studies and economic analysis to support designs.
- Ensure designs meet required codes and standards.
- Validate field work and create as-built drawings.
- Review engineering submissions for accuracy and completeness.
- Manage project execution by directing vendors and contractors.
- Coordinate project schedules with plant personnel, vendors, and contractors.
- Collaborate with management and engineering teams to implement plans.
- Partner with vendors and contractors on layout planning and utility requirements.
- Review consultant work and recommend adjustments.
- Maintain documentation such as manuals, drawings, specifications, and vendor contacts.
- Conduct planning and reviews during pre-project phases.
- Define scope of work and prepare/evaluate proposals.
- Submit regular status reports to management.
- Manage contract administration and review bid packages.
- Prepare project documents including budget analyses, plans, and schedules.
- Monitor installations to ensure they meet specifications and stay within budget.
- Travel to other locations approximately 50% of the time.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering or a related field, plus 5+ years of relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 2+ years of experience in a leadership position, including team development and management.
- Ability to apply sound engineering principles to operational and design issues.
- Knowledge of installation and construction project scheduling.
- Project management and contract administration skills, including interpretation of national codes and standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication, organizational planning, and analytical reasoning skills.
- Proficiency in engineering economics.
- Ability to travel to other locations approximately 50% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience managing multi-million dollar projects with large scopes.
- Knowledge of engineering principles and techniques related to food processing and the meat industry.
Pay
Base salary of $125,000 to $155,000, plus bonus.
