Project Engineering - AMER Region-Sunnyvale

Job Summary

As Alibaba Cloud Project Engineering - AMER Region, you will be the key technical and engineering subject matter expert for the AMER market. Your main job scope includes colocation technical site selection, project technical management, and operation technical support.

Responsibilities

• Technical site selection and due diligence, identify site risks, benchmark against Alibaba Cloud site selection standards, review design and equipment submittals
• Create site-specific design and fit-out solutions based on Alibaba Cloud’s technical standards
• Liaise with internal teams such as server, network, security, and EHS teams to address their domain-specific requirements
• Support lease contract and SLA negotiations, provide technical reviews of the contractual terms
• Attend project meetings, responsible for all technical questions and coordination for AMER regional projects
• Review, comment, and improve commissioning scripts; witness project commissioning and follow up on critical issues identified during the T&C process
• Accept colocation sites based on Alibaba Cloud’s acceptance criteria and support turnover to the operation team
• Provide technical support throughout the colocation site lifecycle, including retirement and restoration of facilities
• Own the design and as-built drawings of the regional colocation site
• Support project teams in incident investigations and document corrective actions
• Manage existing site upgrade and retrofit projects to mitigate risks or increase operational efficiency

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of experience with the design, construction, operation, or commissioning of colocation infrastructure
• Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with internal stakeholders and negotiate with external vendors
• Familiarity with regional building codes and permits
• Registered Professional Mechanical or Electrical Engineer is a plus
• Willingness to work on regional projects and travel up to 30%
• Fluent in English, Chinese is a plus

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $156,000 and $256,800/year. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. If hired, employees will be in an "at-will" position and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
