Project Engineer - Water/Wastewater Utility

About the role

The Project Engineer II position at Aqua, an Essential Utilities company, is responsible for managing the Engineering & Construction Team and the State Capital Budget. Key responsibilities include overseeing project planning and design, coordinating construction projects, managing financials, and collaborating with various departments.

Essential Duties

• Manage the design of water and wastewater capital projects, including tanks, boosters, lift stations, WTP projects, WWTP projects, regulating vaults, etc.
• Evaluate and mitigate system-wide challenges using hydraulic modeling.
• Prepare and/or supervise the permit applications for selected projects and ensure all required permits are obtained with necessary approvals.
• Coordinate and manage construction projects, including bidding, scheduling, and cost estimating.
• Enforce contract requirements and perform construction administration on assigned projects.
• Negotiate and prepare property easements for all assigned projects.
• Manage project financials, including work orders, purchase orders, and invoicing.
• Collaborate with various departments, such as operations, engineering, accounting, and customer service.
• Assist with due diligence for potential new acquisitions.
• Review water main extension plans to ensure compliance with Aqua NJ design standards.
• Perform other tasks or projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required.
• Selected candidate must be a Registered, Professional Engineer in the State of New Jersey or must be able to obtain a PE license within 12 months from hire date.
• 4+ years of relevant experience is required, with experience working within water, wastewater, and buried utilities.
• Valid NJ Drivers License required.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $112,288.42 - $129,131.68.
