Project Engineer Water

About the role

Mott MacDonald is seeking an experienced water/wastewater engineer to join their growing Colorado team. The position is part of a broader effort to expand the water practice in the Rocky Mountain region, focusing on diverse projects including green infrastructure, pumping, and pipeline design.

Responsibilities

• Oversee technical design deliverables for work packages in water/wastewater projects.
• Support the project manager in managing projects, acting as deputy project manager or task/discipline lead.
• Prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, and calculations for key deliverables.
• Provide design support services during construction, including submittal reviews, RFI's, change orders, etc.
• Apply extensive knowledge of engineering/scientific principles/practices in broad areas of assignment and related fields.
• Coordinate with other disciplines, subconsultants, and staff throughout the project.

Requirements

• Entrepreneurial mindset.
• B.S. Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) in Colorado.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in water and wastewater projects.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software (optional).
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or GIS.
• Ability and enthusiasm for supervising the work of others.
• Skilled in technical writing.

Qualifications

• Must have an entrepreneurial mindset.
• Required to have a B.S. Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• A Professional Engineer (PE) license in Colorado is mandatory.
• At least 7 years of relevant experience in water and wastewater projects.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills are essential.
• Ability to work effectively with multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software is preferred but not required.

• Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
• The expected salary range for this position is $118,000 - $144,000.
