About the role

We invite you to continue to build your Water career at HDR. Our global team of industry leaders is looking for success-oriented Project Engineers to work on a wide variety of projects across the industry. As part of our Water Business Group, you’ll help shape how communities manage water for generations to come—from delivering safe drinking water and treating wastewater responsibly to developing sustainable water supplies and protecting lives and property through flood control. Your work will directly support public health, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure resilience.

Our Water Business Group includes over 2,000 professionals offering a comprehensive breadth of services, including utility master planning, wastewater treatment, drinking water treatment, flood protection, water resource management, reuse, applied research, transmission and distribution, water supply, asset management, operations assistance, program management, construction management and inspection, funding and financing, strategic communications, and advisory services.

Responsibilities

• Support and lead projects related to water, wastewater, and/or water resource management.
• Prepare design calculations, cost estimates, technical reports, and engineering plans and specifications with precision and creativity.
• Accumulate and analyze data, presenting findings in professional reports, memos, and presentations for internal and client use.
• Take initiative and work independently while collaborating effectively with Project Managers and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Lead portions of design work and help ensure high-quality, accurate deliverables that meet regulatory and industry standards.
• Assist with permitting applications and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Coordinate with team members across multiple offices and disciplines to keep projects on track and aligned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field.
• Previous experience executing technical studies, analyses, and/or designing and creating plans and specifications for water-focused projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
• Ability to make independent decisions and be accountable for the results.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of a task.
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture.

Pay

The expected compensation range for this position is $67,000 - $134,000 depending on skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
