About the role

CobbFendley is seeking an experienced Utility Coordination Project Engineer in our Austin, Texas office.

Requirements

  • Experienced in general engineering and scientific techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Familiarity with CobbFendley’s QA/QC Management System.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard computer software (CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models).
  • Skills in using spreadsheets, word processing, and standard office software.
  • Design and analysis tasks using determined software and criteria.
  • Utilize Company QA/QC processes and procedures to review tasks and documents.
  • Work with supervisor, project manager, mentors, and various internal personnel to complete assignments.
  • Attend client meetings and prepare utility relocation schedule and tracks project deliverables.
  • Prepare utility agreement assembly packages.
  • Coordinate field investigation requests and assist in interpreting Subsurface Utility Engineering quality level data.
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates and updating project electronic files.
  • Respond to design questions from CAD Technicians and clients.
  • Prepare utility progress reports and respond to requests from clients.
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining project electronic files.
  • Assist in developing/maintaining project schedules.
  • Assist in maintaining client exhibits (KMZ & GIS) which define project scope of work.
  • Assist in reviewing design drawings, permit drawings, and GIS geodatabase deliverables.
  • Assist in keeping abreast of design changes from clients.
  • Assist in preparing contracts, fee proposals, scopes of work, and invoices.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analysis tasks using determined software and criteria, under the direction of a Professional Engineer.
  • Evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications of assignments.
  • Escalate unusual problems and work reviewed for application.
  • Compliance and quality tasks utilizing Company QA/QC processes and procedures.
  • Communication and collaboration with supervisor, project manager, mentors, and various internal personnel to complete assignments.
  • Training, learning and advancement through formal education and practical experience in assignments.
  • Attend internal or external training, as assigned.
  • Onboard and train Graduate Engineer I and II.
  • Work with internal clients daily, problem solve minor issues and escalate concerns when needed.
  • Attend client meetings.
  • Technical assistance in assisting the Project Manager in all aspects of various utility-based projects.

Work Hours and Location Flexibility

  • This is a full-time position, generally 40 hours per week, with hours fluctuating based on department needs.
  • Eligible for a hybrid schedule once the training period is complete.
