Responsibilities
- Serve as MSA's primary field representative on transportation and municipal infrastructure projects
- Perform construction observation and inspection activities to verify compliance with plans, specifications, permits, and contract requirements
- Monitor construction progress, document project activities, and prepare daily reports and project documentation
- Cook with contractors, owners, utility companies, and agency representatives to resolve field issues efficiently
- Review quantities, materials, testing results, and contractor operations for compliance with project requirements
- Identify and communicate construction issues, conflicts, and potential risks while recommending practical solutions
- Maintain regular communication with project managers, clients, contractors, and stakeholders regarding project status and field observations
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates on schedule, quality, safety, and construction progress
- Serve as a trusted technical resource and representative of MSA throughout project delivery
- Support client satisfaction through proactive communication and responsiveness
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program required
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of relevant engineering or construction observation experience required
- Experience: Experience with transportation, municipal, roadway, utility, or public infrastructure projects preferred
- Experience: Construction observation and inspection experience strongly preferred
- Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain
Skills
- Understanding: Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, and contract administration principles
- Experience: Experience working directly with contractors, owners, and regulatory agencies
- Software: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with CADD, GIS, and engineering software tools
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Problem-solving: Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities in field environments
- Organizational: Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with project teams
- Documentation: Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Field work: Desire to spend significant time in the field supporting active construction projects
About the Role
Project Engineer – Field Services to support transportation and municipal infrastructure projects throughout Wisconsin. This role is based out of our Madison, Baraboo or Beaver Dam offices to work on projects in the Greater Dane County area.
