Project Engineer - Transportation

About the role

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to join our transportation service team in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Requirements

• Work with a team in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates
• Prepare supporting design calculations and detailed construction drawings using Civil 3D
• Oversee the technical aspects of various tasks or projects
• Coverage of other disciplines, support services and subconsultants
• Coordination with government agencies, utility providers or other outside agencies
• Identification of applicable codes, standards or other design requirements
• Preparation of technical specifications and cost estimates
• Field reviews and other assessments for use in design
• Participation in contract bidding, providing limited observation during construction, reviewing submittals and RFIs
• Development and tracking of milestones to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery for assigned tasks
• Making decisions independently regarding various issues and methods
• Prioritizing and managing own workload
• Mentoring, training, and/or supervising the work of less experienced engineers and/or technical support personnel
• Leading by example – displaying solid judgment, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalism

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
• Licensed Professional Civil Engineer (PE) in Nevada (or capable of obtaining within 6 months)
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in roadway design

• Proficient in Autodesk Civil3D and Microsoft Office applications
• Proficient in the use of national design standards (MUTCD, AASHTO, etc.)
• Proficient in applying ADA/PROWAG criteria in public infrastructure design
• Capable technical skills required to complete engineering tasks
• Able to delegate assignments and determine methods and procedures
