Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor junior staff (1+ engineers) on technical design and project tasks
- Oversee production of design deliverables, including geometric design of intersections, sidewalks, and ADA-compliant elements; grading/drainage; signals/street lighting; MPT/staging; flood protection; and utility coordination/resolution
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously: track progress, prepare/submit progress reports, coordinate with NV5 Project Manager on schedules, budgets, and internal financials
- Serve as primary point of contact for client/agency communications, submissions, and stakeholder coordination (including NYCDOT, NYCDDC, NYCDEP, MTA, NYC Parks, Private Utilities)
- Facilitate interdisciplinary coordination with in-house teams, subconsultants, and contractors to ensure constructability and contract document integration
- Conduct/lead field work oversight, including surveys, data collection, construction observation, and support (RFIs, submittals, change orders)
- Contribute to project planning, scope development, quantity/cost estimating, specifications, and quality control reviews
- Perform technical reviews of designs, reports, and calculations to ensure compliance with agency standards, MUTCD, ADA, and best practices
- Monitor project risks, schedules, and budgets; recommend adjustments to meet deliverables
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college
- Detail-oriented with excellent communication and technical writing skills
- Worked previously with NYCDDC and NYCDOT preferred
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Excel, Primavera P6 preferred
- PE certification preferred (but not required)
- EIT certification required
- 4–8 years of relevant experience in transportation/civil engineering, preferably on public-sector NYC infrastructure projects
Pay
Compensation: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00
The pay range for this position in New York City is $85,000–$110,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
