Job Description

Parsons is looking for a talented Project Engineer - Traffic to join our team full-time in support of major transportation opportunities in the Tennessee market. This position offers the opportunity to support complex transportation projects with construction values exceeding $1 billion, while working alongside Parsons teams engaged on some of the most significant design-build and alternative delivery programs in the country.

About the Role

This position is based on a hybrid schedule, offering flexibility in work location while maintaining close coordination with project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the delivery of traffic signal design, signal timing, signing, striping, lighting and traffic control plans.
  • Supervise analysis, design and implementation of projects such as corridor studies, traffic impact studies, alternative intersection design, and traffic operational analysis.
  • Provide support for other engineering activities as required.
  • Supervise one or more subordinates, providing input regarding performance.
  • Serve as a lead engineer for a specific discipline on an intermediate to large-scale project.
  • Provide input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
  • Take part in Parsons’ quality management plan to implement QA/QC procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or related field).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in traffic/transportation engineering.
  • PE Registration is required.
  • Experience supporting TDOT is required.
  • High level of proficiency with the methodologies of Highway Capacity Manual (HCM), Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and Signal Warrant studies.
  • Expertise in utilizing CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with traffic engineering is required.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of roadway lighting and Intelligent Transportation Systems design is also highly desirable but not required.
  • PTOE certification is preferred.
  • Microstation or AutoCAD proficiency is preferred.
  • Experience in various types of engineering projects (Design-Build, Design-Bid-Build, Progressive Design-Build, etc.) is desired.
  • SYCHRO, HCS, VISSIM and SIDRA combination of expertise is preferred.

$103,500.00 - $181,100.00
