We are a reputable Heavy Civil General Contractor seeking a Project Engineer to join our growing team in the Tacoma, WA area. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated construction professional looking to gain exposure to complex infrastructure projects while working alongside experienced Project Managers and Superintendents. The company is involved in a variety of heavy civil projects including excavation, grading, underground utilities, roadway construction, site development, bridges, and other public and private infrastructure improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with daily project administration and coordination.
  • Track project schedules, budgets, and production goals.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and field personnel.
  • Review plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Support procurement efforts and material tracking.
  • Assist with project reporting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Conduct site visits and maintain communication between field and office teams.
  • Ensure project records are accurate and up to date.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Experience supporting projects involving:
    • Earthwork and grading
    • Underground utilities
    • Roadway and highway construction
    • Concrete structures
    • Site development
    • Bridge or transportation infrastructure projects
  • Exposure to project scheduling and cost tracking.
  • Experience working with field operations and project teams.
  • Understanding of construction document control and project processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of heavy civil construction methods and practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
  • Experience with project management software is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
