Project Engineer- Tacoma
We are a reputable Heavy Civil General Contractor seeking a Project Engineer to join our growing team in the Tacoma, WA area. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated construction professional looking to gain exposure to complex infrastructure projects while working alongside experienced Project Managers and Superintendents. The company is involved in a variety of heavy civil projects including excavation, grading, underground utilities, roadway construction, site development, bridges, and other public and private infrastructure improvements.
Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers with daily project administration and coordination.
- Track project schedules, budgets, and production goals.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
- Coordinate with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and field personnel.
- Review plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Support procurement efforts and material tracking.
- Assist with project reporting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Conduct site visits and maintain communication between field and office teams.
- Ensure project records are accurate and up to date.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in heavy civil construction.
- Experience supporting projects involving:
- Earthwork and grading
- Underground utilities
- Roadway and highway construction
- Concrete structures
- Site development
- Bridge or transportation infrastructure projects
- Exposure to project scheduling and cost tracking.
- Experience working with field operations and project teams.
- Understanding of construction document control and project processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of heavy civil construction methods and practices.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
- Experience with project management software is preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
