About the Role

The Project Engineer serves as the company's field representative, overseeing day-to-day coordination and management of on-site project administration. This position reports to the Lead Superintendent/Superintendent and provides field administration leadership for assigned projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day on-site administration activities including maintaining the project progress schedule, coordinating material deliveries with internal resources and subcontractors, preparing material takeoffs, material management, and interfacing with the management team
  • Handle daily communications of all on-site activities, issues, and progress to the Lead Superintendent/Superintendent; assist with documenting daily construction activities via field reports completed and uploaded to the Project Manager folder daily; assist with weather log and all report logs for upload
  • Work with Lead Superintendent/Superintendent to ensure project costs, schedule, and quality are maintained at all times
  • Assist in the buyout process with assigned Project Manager and update logs
  • Maintain and enforce jobsite safety and security measures, including weekly safety compliance inspections, weekly safety and environmental talks at production meetings, and obtaining weekly safety meeting minutes from subcontractors
  • Coordinate temporary facilities for the project including dumpsters, portable restrooms, construction trailers, and generators
  • Handle problem-solving and conflict resolution related to field activities; initiate corrective action as warranted to achieve project expectations and goals
  • Assist Lead Superintendent/Superintendent in maintaining project records including all current plans, specifications, submittals, construction change directives, change orders, and closeout documentation in an organized fashion
  • Oversee and track the warranty service process during and after project completion
  • Actively share knowledge and lessons learned from project experience

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manage all onsite deliveries and communicate with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers for assigned projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5+ years of multi-family field management experience
  • Exceptional ability to read, analyze, and understand design documents, blueprints, and Microsoft Project Schedules
  • Experience organizing, filing, creating spreadsheets, and strong mathematical skills
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements and safety-conscious attitude
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Detail and deadline oriented with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Advanced problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Majority of work is performed in the field with challenging conditions involving wide variations in weather and physical environment. Employee may be exposed to wet, cold, hot, and noisy conditions. Duties require extensive walking, climbing, sitting, standing, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.

Position requires daily travel to and from project sites. A valid driver's license is required.

Interaction

Extensive interaction with subcontractors, vendors, design consultants, local officials, and operations personnel. Employee must have the ability to both give and receive direction and is expected to work well with others while exhibiting a professional and courteous demeanor at all times as a key representative of the company.
