Project Engineer - Primary Engineering

About the role

Engineering authority for projects/tenders with low to medium complexity. Execute complete engineering assignments on small, medium, or large projects/tenders cost‑effectively and in accordance with contract specifications and quality standards. Based on technical specifications from end customers and inputs from the OU Engineering team, prepare substation layouts and section drawings, grounding system drawings, lightning system designs, cable routings, bills of materials, RFQs, vet vendor offers, estimate hours, visit project sites, and conduct technical risk and opportunity assessments. Coordinate with the Engineering Manager, Engineering Leads, Tendering team, Project Managers, SCM, secondary and civil/steel design functions, consultants, and end customers, providing required support for each project/tender.

Responsibilities

  • Handle complete engineering deliverables for AIS & GIS projects, adhering to international standards (IEC, IEEE, AS).
  • Produce substation layout and section drawings, grounding system drawings, lightning system designs, cable and cable‑tray routings, and clearance drawings.
  • Understand auxiliary design aspects of substations, including LVAC/LVDC supplies, cable sizing, battery and charger sizing.
  • Verify technical data sheets of primary equipment such as circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches, instrument transformers, and power transformers.
  • Evaluate vendor offers and conduct FAT/SAT of primary equipment as needed.
  • Perform technical risk and opportunity assessments and validation, proposing innovative ideas to reduce engineering effort.
  • Plan, implement, review, and continuously improve the quality system while supporting OPEX initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 8–10 years of overall engineering experience.
  • 5–10 years of experience in substation tendering and project engineering (technical & commercial).
  • Proficiency with CAD and BIM design tools (BIM Tools, BIM 360, Navisworks, MicroStation, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Revit, 3D modeling).
  • Knowledge of relevant international standards (IEEE, IEC, etc.).
