The Project Engineer at the Tesla Megafactory is a key technical member responsible for driving collaboration across various cross-functional teams to deliver and execute product change management. This role involves supporting the development of new processes, managing trials, ensuring product specifications and standards are met, and conducting validation tests.

What You'll Do

  • Lead manufacturing line trials for new products and processes to ensure product specifications and standards are achieved.

  • Manage quality assurance and procedures by testing and validating systems and parts; scope and implement new validation standards and procedures.

  • Conduct Trial Preparation: Ensure part availability, line readiness, and pre-requisite data obtained and consolidated; Complete Trial Report: Document observations, analysis, and results, make recommendations as needed and drive solutions.

  • Record all issues found during trials and help drive to closure; Manage Trial Recovery: Ensure manufacturing lines are validated and/or restored to prior condition post-trial(s).

  • Evaluate the success of each trial (yield, downtime, cost, safety, etc.); Serve as subject matter expert (SME) on trials to ensure proper validation procedures are followed.

  • Become expert level trainer in assigned areas and be responsible for the level of knowledge of Shift technicians; Serve as subject matter expert (SME) on trials to ensure proper validation procedures are followed.

  • Collaborate with variety of cross-functional stakeholders to scope and execute target outcomes.

  • Strong ability to work and communicate effectively with team and peers within a manufacturing and engineering organization. This includes excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Lead and provide feedback in change control meetings through first-principles thinking.

What You'll Bring

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Understanding of manufacturability, process design, process validation, and assembly methods.

  • Aptitude to learn and incorporate new technologies.

  • Ability to break down high-level performance issues into addressable action items.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and an aptitude for learning systems quickly. Ability to utilize structured problem-solving techniques such as DMAIC, Ishikawa, Five Why (5W), or Eight Disciplines (8D).

  • Strong ability to work and communicate effectively with team and peers within a manufacturing and engineering organization. This includes excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Expected Compensation

$93,600 - $140,400/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
