About the role
The Solar PV Project Engineer manages and oversees engineering processes for commercial scale projects from Preliminary Design through construction. Key responsibilities include coordinating with various engineers, managing third-party professionals, and supporting project development tasks.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with structural, electrical, geotechnical, environmental, and civil Professional Engineers to meet technical and code requirements.
- Manage professional engineer review process to obtain engineering deliverables.
- Work closely with and manage third-party professional surveyors to document site conditions and requirements.
- Participate in meetings and technical presentations to stakeholders.
- Provide engineering/technical input and direction to project development tasks such as permitting, power purchase agreements, interconnect agreements, financial modeling, and more.
- Support the interconnection process to place the system in service (receiving Public Transformer Ownership).
- Review specifications for purchases of materials or equipment.
- Manage and work with equipment vendors to address technical challenges and create solutions.
- Inspect completed installations and observe operations to ensure compliance with design and equipment specifications and standards.
- Provide ongoing technical support to the construction team during the installation process.
- Communicate with key members of Sales and other departments as needed to optimize system design.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited institution (BSEE, BSME, BSCE, BSChE preferred).
- Minimum of 2-5 years engineering experience, with at least one year of large-scale solar PV engineering experience.
- NABCEP PV Installation Professional (PVIP) or PV Design Specialist (PVDS) Certification (PVIP preferred).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Expert proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, HelioScope, Google Sketch-up, PVcase, and Microsoft Excel software.
Qualifications
