About the role

Support company-wide efforts in stormwater management and drainage design for transportation related projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver industry leading stormwater management strategies for transportation projects, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines.
  • Conduct drainage design activities, including the analysis of existing drainage systems, designing new drainage systems and ditches, and creating appropriate plans.
  • Create and implement erosion and sediment control measures as necessary for the proposed improvements and create appropriate plans.
  • Utilize hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS to model major bridge and culvert crossings.
  • Employ software tools such as Inletsoft, Pipesoft, Culvertsoft, to design and analyze inlets, pipe networks, and culverts.
  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations related to drainage design and stormwater management, contributing to the project deliverables and progress reporting.
  • Perform scour analysis.
  • Perform field investigations to collect data, take field measurements, photographs, sketches, and verify surveys.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Four (4) years of experience as a Civil Engineer supporting transportation projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) License or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
  • Advanced knowledge of drainage design, H&H modeling and stormwater management.
  • Proficient with industry software: MicroStation, HEC-RAS, SWMM, AutoCAD, Civil3d, InletSoft, PipeSoft, CulvertSoft, PondPack.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey technical concepts and collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Experience with OpenRoads Designer.
  • Experience supporting VDOT and other local Virginia agencies.

Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of drainage design, H&H modeling and stormwater management.
  • Proficient with industry software: MicroStation, HEC-RAS, SWMM, AutoCAD, Civil3d, InletSoft, PipeSoft, CulvertSoft, PondPack.

Pay

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Hybrid work (home and office) schedule is offered.
