Project Engineer (Hybrid)

About the role

Aqua, an Essential Utilities company, is seeking a nimble, detail-oriented Project Engineer to support the cause. This position works under the general supervision of the Engineering Manager and is based in the state of Illinois.

Essential Duties

• Planning for assigned divisions/systems
• Managing the design of water and sewer improvement projects
• Evaluating and mitigating system-wide challenges using hydraulic modeling
• Submittal of required permits and approvals
• Coordination and management of construction projects including bidding, scheduling, and cost estimating
• Enforcing contract requirements and performing construction administration on assigned projects
• Working with consultants to secure necessary easements for all assigned projects
• Negotiating and preparing property easements and overseeing the preparation of property descriptions, surveys, and legal recordings as required
• Managing project financials such as work orders, purchase orders, and invoicing
• Collaborating with various departments state-wide: operations, engineering, accounting, customer service
• Conducting Due Diligence for possible new acquisitions
• Assisting with other tasks or projects as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required
• Selected candidate must be a Registered, Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois or must be able to obtain PE license within three years from hire date
• Two or more years of experience in water and wastewater is preferred

• Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills

• Ability to work well under pressure
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Team player capable of fostering multi-tasking environment

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

• Sedentary work – exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body
• Work involves sitting most of the time
• May include travel to work sites of Essential Utilities and/or other constituents within the State of IL

Hiring Salary Range

$81,975.36 - $108,412.41
