About the role
Project Engineer - Highway / Roadway Design
Design Central New York highway and roadway infrastructure supporting NYSDOT, the City of Syracuse, and other municipal clients. Projects include corridor improvements, sidewalks, trails, and transportation projects across the region.
In addition to supporting the Syracuse market, this technical project role helps advance highway design, roadway analysis, quality control, and staff mentoring for transportation projects throughout New York, Pennsylvania, and Fisher’s broader regional operations.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of transportation experience, with highway engineering experience preferred.
- Professional Engineering license required.
- Experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads.
- Ability to manage technical tasks, deadlines, documentation, quality, and changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with NYSDOT design standards, roadway/drainage design, construction-phase support, and multidisciplinary transportation project coordination.
- Strong client communication, ownership, collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving, and sound judgment.

Location Flexibility
This posting is aligned to the Syracuse, NY market, but the role may support teams, projects, and client needs across multiple Fisher office locations. Fisher will also consider strong candidates located near established Fisher office locations based on project needs, team alignment, licensure, client relationships, and growth priorities.
