Project Engineer - Electrical & Transportation Systems

About the role

William Charles Electric, a MasTec Company, is seeking a Project Engineer to support electrical construction projects in our Transportation Group. The Project Engineer will assist the project team in planning, designing, and executing electrical infrastructure projects within transportation systems, including street lighting, traffic signals, ITS, substations, distribution, and Port of Entry upgrades. This position is based in our Rockford, IL office.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing scheduling of subcontractors on site
  • Receiving and checking quality of materials
  • Completing QA/QC checklists
  • Submittals (material approvals)
  • RFI’s (general questions)
  • Preparing official documents for the project, routing and finalizing
  • Preparing projects reports as needed
  • Back up documentation
  • Closing out final quantities
  • Proposing/ negotiating extra work
  • Special projects within the Project Management function as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned by the Project Management Department

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred (Civil Engineers, Construction Management, or related field preferred); High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years of experience in Civil, Electrical or Industrial Construction is required.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
    • Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the Company’s Zero Injury principles
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Detail oriented, and good organization skills
    • Able to communicate well with others, both written and orally
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Procore and Viewpoint
    • Proficient in Windows based applications
    • Thrive in fast-paced environment

Pay

$75,000-$85,000/year, commensurate with experience
