About the role

The Project Engineer contributes to the success of CR Meyer and its heavy industrial customers by performing engineering and design responsibilities for large-scale construction projects. This role supports the entire construction project team across all disciplines, providing technical assistance to complete various aspects of projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering and design services, including sketches and drawings for conceptual design, fabrication, and installation details.
• Contribute to ‘means and methods’ engineering requirements (e.g., special picking beams, floor loading considerations).
• Assist customers in determining practical and cost-effective project options.
• Perform engineering calculations based on education, experience, and certifications.
• Inspect existing facilities, document structural conditions, and provide repair details to restore structural integrity.
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with engineering and architect teams, ensuring proper communication and document flow.
• Assist in project management tasks, including estimate/bid development, scheduling, budget management, invoicing, reporting, and close-out meetings.
• Determine material requirements and assist in procurement.
• Actively implement the CR Meyer Risk Control Plan and prioritize safety on job sites.
• Support subcontractor selection, tool control, change orders, and documentation.
• Participate in project close-out meetings and document completed projects for future reference.
• Assist with QA/QC requirements as expected by customers.
• Wear assigned PPE and observe all safety guidelines at all times.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance to meet project deadlines.
• Complete all related paperwork in a timely manner.
• Represent CR Meyer professionally at all times.
• Perform all other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, with a focus on structural engineering.
• Previous structural design experience; heavy industrial project experience preferred.
• EIT certification required; PE preferred.
• AutoCAD experience required.
• Familiarity with ASCE and IBC (2012 and newer) Building Codes.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn ViewPoint software.
• Ability to complete CR Meyer training and perform job duties within safety guidelines, including First Aid/CPR Certification, OSHA 30, and SafeStart.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and comply with CR Meyer’s Drug & Alcohol Policy and Program.
• Valid driver’s license, insurable driving history, and ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and legally.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
• Ability to travel to project sites within the United States.
