Summary

Monitors and assists ship design development, execution, and changes across all Engineering departments. Ensures that ship designs meet all external and internal customer performance requirements.

Essential Functions And Duties

  • Assist in the interpretation of Ship Specifications and related project requirements documentation.
  • Communicate and defend engineering scope with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collect, monitor, and analyze program cost, schedule, and control data.
  • Lead and facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate tracking, analysis, and response to programmatic and engineering issues.
  • Prepare presentations and white papers for senior leadership, as needed.
  • Assist in development of contract drawings, engineering reports, and other required deliverables.
  • Track, scope, and execute design changes with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in identification and resolution of technical problems.
  • Review, file, and distribute technical correspondence with customer.
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • College graduate with bachelor's degree, Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Skills in project coordination and facilitation.
  • Skills in planning, scheduling, and cost control techniques.
  • Professional business skills, including organization in execution of administrative tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Physical Demands

  • Work in both an office and industrial setting.
  • Prolonged periods of working in a stationary position, operating a computer, computer programs, and standard office equipment necessary to perform the essential duties.
  • Perceiving information and communicating effectively with others in person, online, and on the phone.
  • Prolonged periods of working in indoor and outdoor industrial settings.
  • Ability to safely access, navigate, and traverse the shipyard, construction areas, production areas, ships, and warehouses.
  • Ability to transit uneven surfaces, and be agile to move quickly to avoid hazards and respond to unexpected obstacles.
  • Ability to observe, detect, identify, perceive, recognize, and process information to remain alert and timely comply with all safety requirements.
  • Ability to move, transport, and use equipment necessary to perform the essential duties.
  • Duties performed on ships require ascending and descending stairs and ladders, transiting on scaffolding and at heights, transiting through manholes and other narrow, confined, or congested spaces.
  • Exposure to industrial areas which contain hazardous materials, loud noise (including sirens, horns, chipping, slamming, and hammering), dust, fumes, and exposure to weather.

Pay

  • Assistant Project Engineer: $81,000 - $110,300
  • Project Engineer: $98,600 - $155,700
