About the role
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in civil engineering with expertise in transportation systems, including roadways, highways, bridges, and transit systems. This role requires exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills to manage multidisciplinary teams, ensure compliance with regulations, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Act as a team lead in the design, modification, analysis and preparation of PS&E for public and private infrastructure.
- Provide Project Management oversight and assist in all aspects of projects including preparation of project documents and reports.
- Provide oversight and assist with the management of project scope, budget and schedule changes.
- Use manuals, guidance, standards, and engineering judgment to provide infrastructure solutions for projects with varying complexity.
- Prepare design plans, schedules, reports, calculations, estimates and specifications for various transportation design related projects utilizing knowledge of relevant design principles.
- Able to review project documents (drawings, specifications, RFI’s, schedules, etc.) and evaluate for completeness for the respective phase of design.
- Manage, review, and assist with engineered drawings, submittals, deliverables, and other documents for consistency with work scope, assessing conformance to contract specifications, and resolving any conflicts in interpretation.
- Facilitate The Company’s quality control procedure for deliverable generation, archiving, and distribution/transmittal.
Requirements
- 4-7 years of experience in the transportation engineering marketplace.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois.
- Experience with OpenRoads Designer/Microstation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office.
- Working knowledge of industry safety standards, guidelines, and specification codes.
- Project experience working with IDOT, Tollway, CDOT or various counties and/or local municipalities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required to provide effective coordination on projects, as well as effective communication with clients and subconsultants.
- Must be organized, self-directed, able to prioritize and multi-task, work in a team environment and also work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must possess strong time management and attention to detail.
- Knowledgeable in transportation design standards including IL Tollway, CDOT, IDOT design guidelines.
Qualifications
Must have Illinois PE.
