About the role

The Project Engineer, Construction supports the Project Manager and field staff in planning, coordinating, and executing residential housing construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This entry-level role provides hands-on experience across all phases of construction while helping deliver projects on time, within budget, and in compliance with all safety and quality standards in support of rebuilding communities impacted by the Palisades fires.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Support residential construction projects throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Aid with project schedules, milestones, and progress tracking.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, drawing revisions, and project documentation.
  • Cook with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants to help keep projects on schedule.
  • Aid with budgeting, forecasting, invoices, pay applications, and change orders.
  • Participate in site walks to monitor quality, safety, and project progress, including punch list tracking.
  • Coordinate permitting, utility coordination, material procurement, and long-lead item tracking.
  • Attend project meetings and provide progress updates while building strong relationships with clients, inspectors, and project partners.
  • Aid with project closeout, including final inspections, as-built documents, warranties, and turnover packages.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned while developing skills in project management and field operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related construction program (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Familiarity with construction documents, processes, and project lifecycle.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; willingness to learn Procore, Smartsheet, BuildingConnected, and other project management software.
  • OSHA 30 certification, or ability to obtain it.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Eagerness to learn, collaborate, and thrive in a fast-paced construction environment.
