Key Responsibilities
- First Rotation: Estimating
- Engage with the Estimating department to gather subcontractor pricing for new project estimates.
- Scope Analysis: Review and analyze subcontractor bids to ensure alignment with project specifications.
- Material and Labor Take-Offs: Perform detailed material and labor take-offs.
- Pricing Reviews: Prepare pricing recaps for senior leadership.
- Site Visits: Visit job sites to build relationships with clients and vendors.
- Fabrication Shop Experience: Gain hands-on experience with the fabrication flow and production processes, deepening your understanding of the entire construction lifecycle.
- Second Rotation: Project Management
- Schedule Management: Oversee and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely delivery of all project milestones.
- Procurement: Draft and issue purchase orders and subcontracts to vendors.
- Change Management: Prepare and submit pricing for change order requests.
- Design Review: Evaluate design drawing revisions to identify and manage scope changes effectively.
- Client and Vendor Relations: Conduct job site visits to foster strong relationships with clients and vendors, ensuring alignment on project goals.
- Cordination: Manage the coordination of construction drawings and models, and review submittals for compliance and accuracy.
- Issue Resolution: Collaborate with onsite subcontractors to identify and resolve field issues.
- Third Rotation: Estimating or Project Management
- The work area will be determined based on the Co-ops’ performance/preference.
- The business needs of SteelFab at this time will be taken into consideration.
Qualifications And Requirements
- Minimum Education Level: Sophomore
- Major: Engineering, Construction Management, or related fields
- Required: High level competency in PDF’s, Microsoft Project, Excel and Word, and common computer skills.
- Valid driver’s license
- Preferred: Some experience in the construction or engineering industry through work, internships, or part-time employment
