Facilities (Plant) Engineer Co-Op
About the role
The Facility Engineer Co-op supports the Facilities Engineering team in the planning, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of building systems and infrastructure. This role provides hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, HVAC, utilities, and building automation systems while assisting with technical projects, documentation, and facility performance analysis.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM) items and inspections using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Perform machinery space rounds, equipment rotation, and system monitoring
- Absorb and assist in troubleshooting and unexpected repairs of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems with licensed technicians
- Oversee day-to-day site operation for Grounds, Security & Janitorial needs
- Operate and monitor multiple sites using the Building Management System (BMS)
- Manage life safety systems such as sprinklers, fire/toxic alarm systems, toxic exhaust, emergency power distribution
- Ensure compliance with local/state/federal regulations, inspections & certificates
- Conduct continuous improvement projects
- Master planning and large capital expenditure project budgeting
- Departmental expense and controllable budgets management
- Department staffing, managing people & leading teams
- Execute corporate goals
Requirements
Applicants must be candidates for a Bachelor of Science degree in Facilities Engineering. Familiarity with mechanical and electrical equipment is required. Experience using tools including hand/power tools, precision measurement and diagnostic tools is preferred. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential. Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety protocols (LOTO, PPE, etc.) is necessary. Works well with others and has a willingness to learn is important. Ability to apply mechanical principles in a real-world environment is beneficial.
Qualifications
To qualify, applicants should have completed at least half of their undergraduate studies and be enrolled in a degree program leading to a Bachelor of Science in Facilities Engineering, Mechanical Systems, Reliability Engineering, or Operations Support. Relevant experience in mechanical and electrical equipment is preferred.
Skills

The headquarters is located directly off Route 128 and just 10 minutes from the Beverly Train Station. Transportation between the Beverly station and the facility is available through the Salem Skipper rideshare service.
Pay
The U.S. base salary range for this role is $20.42 - $35.70 per hour. This range reflects the typical compensation for this role across U.S. locations. Individual pay is determined based on multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, work location, and internal equity.
Schedule
The Co-op schedule is Monday- Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm.
