HNTB’s Bellevue (Seattle, WA) office is seeking Engineering graduates with 6 years of experience to join our Aviation Department. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse and challenging engineering projects at airports in the Pacific Northwest and across the nation. The successful candidate will lead aviation project tasks, coordinate with other disciplines, and strengthen client relationships.

About the Role

The position involves producing and modifying design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects. You will consult with the project manager to perform research, development, calculations, design, and delivery while applying engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria to projects of varying size and complexity. This role also includes addressing design-related issues, solving problems creatively, and mentoring junior engineers.

Primary Project Focus

  • Geometric design of runways, taxiways, and aprons
  • Bituminous and concrete pavements
  • Stormwater and utility infrastructure
  • Airfield lighting
  • Airfield support facilities
  • Coordination with airports, airlines, FAA, and other aviation tenants
  • Projects in all phases of planning, design, and construction

Responsibilities

  • Plan and distribute discipline-specific work while adhering to schedule and budget on projects.
  • Assist in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.
  • Develop scope of work and level of effort for projects and assignments within the discipline.
  • Oversee completeness and accuracy of the project team’s work within the technical discipline.
  • Guide and mentor the team to meet overall project objectives.
  • Coordinate technical aspects of projects with client counterparts and teaming partners.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience, or
  • Master’s degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience, or
  • PhD in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • Understands the impacts of decisions on technical design and work planning.
  • Coordinates work planning and design effectively across multiple technical disciplines.
  • Prepares high-quality deliverables on time and within budget and scope.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering
  • 8 years of relevant experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification (depending on discipline)

Pay

  • Washington: $115,189.80 – $180,168.68
  • Colorado: $105,590.66 – $165,154.61

Actual compensation will depend on qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical work location within the state.

Locations: Bellevue, WA (Seattle), Denver, CO, Salt Lake City, UT, Seattle, WA (Downtown). Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
