Project Engineer
Essential Functions
The ideal candidate is an Engineer who can develop and implement innovative solutions to address complex environmental challenges. The candidate will have a strong technical background in hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater modeling, as well as excellent project management and communication skills to effectively collaborate with Village staff, elected officials, residents, developers, stormwater regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders. As a team member within the Engineering Division, the Engineer will be responsible for the planning, design, and implementation of stormwater management systems, ensuring compliance with regulations and developing sustainable solutions for flood control and water quality. Additional responsibilities include overseeing the Village's participation in the National Flood Insurance Program and ensuring completion of recertification requirements set forth by the Community Rating System and ensuring compliance with the NPDES regulations. The position requires interacting with citizens, business owners, contractors, consultants, elected officials, State/County employees, and other stakeholders on a regular basis in dealing with engineering related issues.
Requirements
- Educational Requirements: Bachelor of Science in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field from an ABET accredited program. Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois required or ability to acquire within one year of employment. Certified Floodplain Manager certification, or ability to acquire within one year of employment.
- Experience Requirements: A minimum of three years’ of professional engineering experience preferred. Valid Class B driver’s license (CDL) from the State of Illinois or the ability to obtain within one year of hire.
Starting Rate
$107,227 - $150,118 annually depending on qualifications.
