Job Summary
Construction project engineers manage construction projects to ensure they are built and scheduled according to plans and specifications. They work with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate, manage, and deliver construction work. Their goal is to complete the job on time, under budget, and without harm. Our projects range typically from 1 – 3 years in length.
Responsibilities
- Supervise project start up, project completion, punch list identification and entire close-out process
- Provide project controls including costs, planning, scheduling, engineering, supervision and management of personnel
- Effectively communicate and coordinate with all project team members to maintain project schedule, safety, budget and quality control efforts
- Plan and organize quality processes such as work planning, pre-activity meetings, material management, incident reports and corrective actions
- Able to write and comprehend RFIs, potential change orders, project schedules
- Able to clearly communicate to home office, Owner and Subcontractors
- Able to write contracts, negotiate scope, negotiate terms and conditions, subcontractor compliance and owner compliance
- Have working knowledge of owner contract, subcontracts and purchase orders
- Able to manage subs in a hard-bid capacity understanding subcontractor contract scope and holding subcontractors to their contracts
- Able to manage schedules, SOVs, org charts, management plans, submittal review and approval for all DIV 01 – 33
- Oversee the management and mobilization of equipment, labor and materials to include permits and other 3rd party requirements
- Able to run both internal project meetings as well as owner project meetings - develop content, manage BIC, etc.
- Experience building P6 schedules with cost and resource loading, and understanding of all schedule and production reports to owner and company mgmt.
- Manage sub and self-performance production with the capability of adding and removing craft staff, or modifying work plans to expedite schedule
- Manage P&L, change orders, key P\performance indicators, lead and lag measurements and vendor pay applications
- Manage T&Cs, stop work orders, VAAR, FAR, AIA and other related clauses
- Manage LEED, performance testing, TAB, commissioning of CxR/M and CxA
- Able to manage warranty, commissioning, CPARS, PPQ and client satisfaction
- Maintain relationships with owners, clients and subcontractors
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
- 1-5 years’ experience with a hard-bid general contracting company
- A thorough understanding of construction materials, means, methods and building systems
- Able to utilize Microsoft Office, Adobe and Bluebeam
- Excitement about working on any shift, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, as hospital construction occurs at all hours
- Able to pass a background investigation and a drug test
- A desire to stay and grow with a company that will help mentor, train, and educate you
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs
- Experience in federal sector projects
- Experience in healthcare projects
- CQMC certified from USACE
- Arbitration and Mediation experience preferred
- OSHA and EM-385-1-1 management, CAPP management, Safety Reporting Systems Management
- Experience in Davis Bacon-Prevailing wage or Union required projects
