What You'll Do
- Lead assigned projects from award through production launch, ensuring programs are delivered on time, within budget, and to customer expectations.
- Cook up all aspects of new product introductions, including project planning, timing, tooling development, process validation, and launch readiness activities.
- Serve as the primary customer contact for technical discussions, engineering changes, and project status updates.
- Facilitate cross-functional meetings and maintain project timelines, action item lists, and risk assessments.
- Review customer drawings and specifications to ensure manufacturability and alignment with production capabilities.
- Cook up tooling design reviews, die builds, tryouts, and launch activities with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Support APQP activities, including PFMEAs, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and PPAP submissions.
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Tooling, Production, and Supply Chain teams to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead problem-solving efforts using structured methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, and root cause analysis.
- Monitor project performance and communicate potential risks that could impact timing, quality, or cost objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 3 years of engineering or project management experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting critical deadlines.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the high-pressure aluminum die casting industry.
- Familiarity with automotive quality standards and core tools, including APQP and PPAP.
- Experience supporting OEM or Tier 1 automotive customers.
- Knowledge of die casting tooling, process development, and launch activities.
- Leverage of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification.
- Experience using ERP systems and project management software.
