Project Engineer

Description NetGain Technologies is looking for a Project Engineer to join our Professional Services team. This isn’t a break/fix role or a help desk escalation path — it’s a project delivery seat. You’ll execute structured implementation projects for small business, mid-market, and enterprise clients, working directly with our PMO from kickoff through documented closeout. If you’re the kind of engineer who reads a project plan before touching a config, takes pride in leaving an environment better than you found it, and can walk into a client site and own the room — this role is for you. What You’ll Do Execute infrastructure implementation projects end-to-end, including Windows Server deployments, virtualization migrations (VMware and Hyper-V), and network/firewall buildouts across client environments. You’ll work from a defined SOW and project plan, coordinating directly with a dedicated Project Manager and documenting completed work before the project closes. Expect a mix of remote delivery and periodic client site work. Deploy and migrate Windows Server environments (2016–2022)Implement VMware vSphere/ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V solutionsConfigure enterprise firewall platforms (Fortinet, Cisco, and similar)Execute network infrastructure projects including routing, switching, VLANs, and VPNsProduce required documentation at project closeFlag out-of-scope conditions to your PM so change orders can be processed correctlyWork directly with clients on-site and remotely to deliver exceptional results Tech You’ll Work With Windows Server (2016–2022), Active Directory / Entra IDVMware vSphere / ESXiMicrosoft Hyper-VFortinet FortiGate, Cisco (routing/switching), Aruba, MerakiMicrosoft 365 What We’re Looking For 5+ years of hands-on infrastructure engineering experience in an MSP or project-delivery environmentDemonstrable depth in Windows Server and at least one major virtualization platform (VMware or Hyper-V)Strong firewall configuration and network troubleshooting skills — especially FortinetComfort working within a structured project methodology — you follow a plan, communicate proactively, and escalate scope issues rather than absorbing themThe ability to translate technical work into clear client-facing communicationWillingness to travel to client sites as needed Bonus Points Microsoft, VMware, or Fortinet/NSE certificationsCCNA or CCNPExperience with ConnectWise Multi-site deployment experienceA track record of clean project closeouts with fully documented environments Why NetGain?
