Primary Responsibilities
- Aid in the development of pre-project approval documents including project charter, project management plan, project kick start, estimate, and milestone schedule creation.
- Maintain oversight of design progress and ensure project deliverables adhere to established project key components.
- Receive design details from the design team and coordinate bid package development and release for construction bidding and field execution.
- Select contractors and determine appropriate contracting methods based on engineering ways of working.
- Direct and oversee installation, construction, and commissioning of assigned projects.
- Ensure adherence to project scope and obtain approvals for all changes based on engineering ways of working.
- Manage and control project budget, providing cost forecasts and cash flow projections on a monthly basis or as requested by project stakeholders.
- Manage and maintain project milestone schedules, integrating detailed scheduling as agreed upon in the project charter.
- Manage data collection and feedback processes for projects.
- Monitor processes for compliance with quality and GMP requirements according to FDA and OSHA regulations.
- Provide construction management and plant startup assistance to ensure successful project execution.
- Evaluate, select, and issue contracts for construction firms through bidding and prequalification vetting processes.
- Self-direct project management of assigned projects from start to finish with minimal supervision from department managers.
- Monitor work output from less senior engineers on the project team as directed by the department manager.
- Provide technical support to Factory operations.
- Support and participate in Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE) and Total Performance Management (TPM) as part of their job responsibilities within the Business Unit or assigned factory.
- Ensure an attitude of absolute intolerance for unsafe situations and never implement any change without first questioning its impact on product safety/quality, people safety, and the environment. No compromises will be tolerated.
Qualifications/Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree - Required
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
- Ability to analyze data
- Ability to solve problems and implement change
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to complete major projects in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to schedule resources effectively to balance continuous improvement with day-to-day results
- Additional consideration for subject matter expertise in a particular field of engineering (process, packaging, refrigeration, etc.)
Experience and Skills Preferred
- 3+ years experience managing capital projects with increasing responsibility and complexity in a manufacturing, industrial, military, or related environment
- 3+ years of project management experience in a manufacturing, industrial, military, or related environment
- Experience using SAP and/or Microsoft Project
- Experience with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)
