About the role

The Project Engineer (PE) position at Murray Company is a key entry point into construction project management, and our PE's play a critical role in the success of each project. As a Project Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work alongside best-in-industry project managers and field leaders within our commercial division, specializing in plumbing and mechanical projects. This role provides business and administrative support to facilitate the planning and coordination of activities of assigned project to ensure that goals and objectives of the project are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters.

Location: Cypress, CA with anticipated travel to designated project sites in and around the greater metropolitan area.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Manager in planning work schedule, determining manpower levels, and arranging for assignment of project personnel.
  • Assist in the coordination of project personnel activities to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • May advise Project Manager of potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties. Assist in circumventing/resolving such problems as required.
  • Compose and/or edit letters, memos, reports, and procedures as required.
  • Oversee and/or process day-to-day administrative items per supervisor’s authorization.
  • Prepare special reports, studies, and statistical analysis per supervisor’s request. Such items would usually require research, development, and/or interpretation of data and be performed with little instruction or supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, or similar area of study and/or previous field and craft experience.
  • 1+ year of prior experience within the construction industry and high interest in mechanical contracting with a focus on plumbing and mechanical projects a plus.
  • Proficiency in Excel and computer literacy.
  • Exposure to various construction-based software such as Bluebeam preferred. Experience with Revit, Navisworks, and/or Autodesk Build / Procore a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must have sufficient visual acuity to read printed and digital documents.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, access and egress trenches and/or attic spaces and/or confined spaces.
  • Requires hearing ability to communicate in noisy environments.
  • Must be able to recognize alarms, signals, and verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
  • Ability to grasp, handle, and manipulate small objects.

Pay

$75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
