Project Engineer
About the role
The Project Engineer will lead engineering projects to improve plant capabilities through new or improved processes, technology and equipment while also providing engineering and technical support.
Responsibilities
- Lead projects to reduce cost, increase efficiency, improve safety, or improve machine capabilities from conception through to completion
- Manage and coordinate project timelines, team meetings, project reviews, project budgets, equipment installations and validations
- Effectively communicate project requirements, goals and timelines to plant management
- Act as a vendor liaison for the purchase, design, fabrication, installation, and validation of custom high speed automation equipment
- Provide problem solving, cost analysis, testing, validation, design, and equipment repair support
- Aid in writing capital requests and developing departmental budgets
- Brainstorm, research, design and test new processes, technologies and equipment
- Collaborate on equipment designs with outside vendors and other client engineers
- Create work instruction and quality documentation for new processes and equipment
- Provide engineering support for production through cost analysis, testing, equipment design, equipment repair and problem solving
- Perform acceptance testing for newly purchased equipment
Requirements
- Knowledge & Experience Education: Bachelor degree in Engineering, (BSME or BSEE preferred).
- Desired Experience: Application of QSR to new and modified operations / procedures. Minimum of two years of engineering experience in manufacturing (preferably medical device manufacturing). Equipment design experience.
- Desired Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated verbal & written communication skills. Strong problem solving skills. Demonstrated leadership skills. Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and technology. PC skills; familiarity with Excel, Word, PowerPoint Minitab, SAP, CAD, MS Project and Visio. Understand preventive maintenance concepts and management of work orders. Proficiency with 3D CAD software (preferably Inventor or Solidworks).
- Supervision: Indirect supervision over support personnel necessary for project completion including engineers, technicians, quality associates, facilities associates, and equipment operators.
