About the role

The Project Engineer is responsible for the overall execution of the engineering for assigned projects or proposals. As the primary technical contact with the client, you will monitor and coordinate technical deliverables to ensure satisfaction of the contract scope and deliver a project that prioritizes safety during facility construction, start-up, and operation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and communicate the Engineering Scope of Work and Project Engineering Plan to disciplines.
  • Coordinate Engineering input to support schedule development for individual and interdisciplinary planning.
  • Work with Chief Engineers or other stakeholders for alignment, effective planning, and execution.
  • Ensure discipline and project leads understand and adhere to the schedule, including activities required to support procurement.
  • Coordinate and monitor schedule updates and submittals.
  • Collaborate with clients (internal and external) and discipline leads to determine design codes and establish overall design criteria.
  • Oversee that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals and procedures.
  • Ensure disciplines stay within scope and as-sold intent, including interpreting scope, identifying budget deviations, determining change order potential, and coordinating cost/schedule impacts.
  • Implement approved project changes and communicate associated schedule impacts to Discipline Leads.
  • Verify project quality processes are followed.
  • Hold recurring design coordination meetings with Discipline Leads to ensure inter-discipline coordination.
  • Coordinate with Project Management, Procurement, and Document Control for proper document distribution to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate discipline field support and field communication using the RFI system.
  • Review and provide engineering input for weekly and monthly reports on contract status, progress, costs, and potential changes.
  • Participate in project review meetings.
  • Perform other assigned responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in any engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited university.
  • 5+ years of experience leading multidisciplinary projects (mechanical, structural, electrical, and control systems) in EPC projects and proposals.
  • Strong preference for heavy industrial experience supporting construction teams for Balance of Plant scopes.
  • Desired experience with engineered fixed equipment, including above-ground storage tanks and low-temperature systems (LNG, ammonia, etc.), bulk storage systems (foundations, structural steel, vessels).
  • Experience in chemical plants or liquid terminals preferred.
  • Ability to understand client specifications, procurement, commissioning, start-up standards, documentation, vendor data approvals, and practices.
  • Demonstrated experience following quality assurance and control procedures.
  • Ability to analyze problems, make technical decisions, and implement solutions.
  • Proactive approach with a consistently positive demeanor.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks under time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Effective oral, listening, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Overtime and travel required, including job site walks, in-week, multi-week, and longer durations as needed.
