Project Engineer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for all engineering activities on the project ensuring that all work is done in compliance with the project plans, specifications, and applicable permits
• Preparation of project work plans, work element plans, and JSAs
• Preparation of all pay estimates for submittal to the client
• Critical path scheduling, baseline scheduling, and 3 week look ahead scheduling
• Cost control including tracking and reporting project costs
• Manages, teaches, and mentors all field engineers assigned to the project
• Responsible for project survey requirements
• Responsible for project planning and layout
• Coordinates project activities with the client and other project stakeholders
• Maintains production and operations on the assigned job
• Oversees contractor quality control reporting
• Provides general project support
• Responsible for project files and organization of project office
• Ensures compliance with Manson’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct
• Practices safe work standards and promotes an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) work environment as a condition of employment

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in a technical area of study, typically Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or Construction Management
• Minimum of 5 years of construction management or civil engineering experience
• Marine, structures, heavy lifts, or concrete construction experience preferred
• Experience with scheduling, estimating, and project management software preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Supervises field engineers on assigned projects

Physical Demands

• Position is primarily a field position, and will require travel, including visits and monitoring of construction job sites
• Must be able to wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required of various construction work environments (hard hats, personal floatation devices, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toed shoes, respirators, etc.)
• The employee is required to stand, walk, use stairs, ladders, and step stools and reach with hands and arms
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to navigate stairs, ladders and gangways, board, work on and disembark floating vessels and structures
• The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud
• The employee may be required to sit for extended periods of time

Job Location

Main office in Southern California is in Long Beach, CA. Projects are typically in Los Angeles County, although could range from San Luis Obispo to San Diego.
