Project Engineer

About the role

The Kansas City, MO office of Lamp Rynearson, Inc. is seeking a qualified and motivated Project Engineer to join their collaborative Civil Design team. They are a firm driven by a shared purpose to improve the places they live, work, and play.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design drawings and calculations across a range of public and private sector developments
• Lead and assist projects through every phase—from planning to design to construction
• Mentor up-and-coming engineers, while keeping projects on schedule and within budget
• Create clear, high-quality documentation in line with project scope and quality standards
• Contribute to technical studies, collaborate with sub-consultants, and analyze reports
• Work directly with clients to understand needs and deliver solutions to build strong, lasting client relationships
• Engage with local clients and business development opportunities to expand the firm's impact

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline (Master’s is a plus!)
• PE license in any state (or ability to obtain licensure in KS or MO within 90 days of hire date)
• 5+ years of proven experience in design development of stormwater, transportation, public and/or private engineering services
• Experience or familiarity with hydraulic modeling, CAD, and/or GIS
• Ability to prepare design computations, engineering letters, and technical reports
• A collaborative spirit and the desire to work with both internal teams and external partners on infrastructure layout
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Confidence in preparing client presentations, technical memos, detailed reports, and construction contract documents
• A proactive attitude and a passion for participating in a dynamic, employee-owned culture
