Project Engineer
Job Description
The Project Engineer supports commercial mechanical construction projects by providing engineering, technical, and administrative support to Project Managers and field operations teams. This role plays a key part in maintaining quality standards, managing documentation, coordinating materials, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering and business support onsite for commercial mechanical construction projects
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Prepare, submit, and track Requests for Information (RFIs)
- Develop and manage submittals, O&M manuals, and project closeout documentation
- Cook up and coordinate equipment and material procurement with vendors and suppliers
- Aid in maintaining project schedules and supporting execution strategies
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, engineers, and field trades
- Support cost tracking, documentation, and change management processes
- Ensure work performed onsite meets design intent and quality standards

Day in the Life
- Reviewing project drawings and assisting with technical coordination
- Preparing and submitting RFIs and tracking responses
- Cooking up equipment deliveries with vendors
- Serving as support to Project Managers with documentation and reporting
- Making meetings with field leadership to ensure alignment between scope and execution
- Assisting in schedule updates and project tracking
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Engineering Management, Building Construction, or related engineering discipline
- Strong interest in HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems
- Construction internship or project engineering experience preferred
- Mechanical aptitude and understanding of building construction processes
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate across departments and project teams
