As a Project Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in designing and executing multiple projects, delivering scope, time, and cost safely according to a plan. You'll support the overall operation, providing technical expertise and innovation, and engage with key stakeholders to share information.
Responsibilities
- Designs and executes multiple projects with some complexity, delivering scope, time, and cost according to a plan.
- Works with engineering service providers, contractors, and vendors to specify equipment and installations.
- Ensures processes and procedures comply with internal programs and external requirements.
- Develops engineering designs with some intermediate complexity, material and energy balances, process flow diagrams, preliminary P&IDs, and process control strategies.
- Possesses intermediate knowledge of project management methodology and project stages.
- Responsible for the full life cycle of project management process for capital projects: concept, design, estimating, proposal submittal, purchasing, installation, start-up, commissioning, documentation, training, and closure.
- Uses knowledge management tools to surface best solutions.
- Uses knowledge of the production process to make significant improvements to the production process.
- Analyzes data and performance targets to identify highest value improvement opportunities.
- Designs and implements capital permits and projects as identified and assigned, within budget and on time, delivering targeted return on investment and in compliance with engineering standards.
- Provides technical support to the EHS&S and Quality Manager to design and/or redesign work processes that eliminate losses due to personal injury or property damage.
- Supervises and executes projects, establishing and meeting budget, scheduling and supervising project activity, training personnel, supervising start-up and coordinating with all departments.
- Strongly supports lean manufacturing methodologies, ensuring all team members utilize the tools, delivering results.
- Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams to develop and implement continuous improvement strategies aimed at optimizing overall equipment reliability and performance.
- Analyze existing operational costs with a focus on implementing innovative and effective cost-saving strategies, ensuring resource utilization is maximized without compromising the reliability of operations.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Chemical preferred), or a related field with one to three years of engineering experience demonstrating successful implementation of solutions, including effective project management.
- Proven experience as a Project Engineer/Engineer or similar role in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Knowledge of grain processing industry and/or relevant experience in other industries (food, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, chemical, or bio-chemical) with substantial experience in research and engineering - manufacturing or experience in the manufacture of protein isolate is a plus.
- Knowledge of engineering and unit operations, basic chemistry, heat and material balances, P&ID development, mechanical and physical/chemical separations, evaporation, drying, material handling, cGMPs, sanitary design, and energy management.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
- Preferred knowledge of Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge of cost analysis and budget management.
