About the role
The Project Engineer will support the execution of commercial-scale energy projects, including Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production facilities and specialty power/cooling systems. This role involves cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, procurement, and project management teams to ensure timely development of engineering packages and alignment between these teams.
Responsibilities
- Cook up and oversee the creation of engineering design packages, covering process, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation scopes.
- Act as the main point of contact between internal engineering teams, technology providers, operations, procurement, and external vendors to maintain technical alignment and streamline workflows.
- Inspect and validate process and mechanical datasheets, equipment specifications, and design criteria before issuing documents to vendors or initiating procurement activities.
- Manage and track engineering progress, deliverable schedules, inter-discipline reviews, and risk/issue logs.
- Handle technical inquiries (RFIs/TQs), ensuring clear and prompt communication among project stakeholders.
- Facilitate technical interface management and address design conflicts between engineering disciplines.
- Lead and participate in design reviews, Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPs), constructability reviews, and value engineering sessions.
- Collaborate with construction and commissioning teams to ensure that design intentions are understood and correctly implemented on-site.
- Ensure that all engineering activities align with project goals related to sustainability, safety, cost, schedule, and performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical engineering preferred).
- 3–7+ years of experience in project engineering within industrial, energy, large-scale power projects, chemical, or renewable fuels projects.
- Experience developing or coordinating engineering design packages on large-scale process facilities.
- A strong understanding of multidisciplinary engineering workflows (process, mechanical, E&I, civil/structural).
- Familiarity with EPC project delivery, Pre-FEED, FEED, and detailed design workflows.
- A working knowledge of engineering document control, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment data sheets, and 3D models.
- Ability to manage multiple interfaces and coordinate processes across internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.
