Project Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Project Engineer (Hybrid; based in Elgin, Illinois) to manage and coordinate customized cable assembly projects.

Responsibilities

• Act as the local technical and economic contact for projects
• Manage project realization with technical engineering
• Support new solution development with design and manufacturing considerations
• Introduce new product designs into production
• Collaborate across departments and regions
• Understand customer specifications
• Prepare engineering documentation
• Provide customer quotations

Requirements

• Highly driven to act as the local contact person for technical and economical aspects
• Manage projects to realize customized solutions
• Develop new solutions considering “fit for purpose” and “design for manufacturing”
• Manage the introduction of new product designs into the production environment
• Work with relevant departments within the region and HARTING Custom Solutions Global Business Unit
• Can understand drawings and technical specifications
• Support the preparation of designs and engineering specifications
• Can provide customer quotations and proposals
• Travel up to 10%

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in Engineering (Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering)
• Prior experience with cable harnesses / cable assemblies / wire harnesses required
• 3+ years of experience in a relevant field

• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Technical proficiency with cable assembly and design
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Customer service orientation

Pay

Competitive base salary: $90,000 - $120,000 (commensurate with experience, subject to change dependent on physical location)
