Project Engineer

About the role
The Project Engineer serves as the secondary customer contact and acts as a business manager alongside the Senior Project Manager (SPM) or Project Manager (PM). This role directly and proactively manages assigned job orders from initial design through warranty expiration, ensuring alignment with company best practices, policies, and procedures to meet department and company goals.
Responsibilities
- Directly manage assigned jobs from initial order through completion, including a higher volume of smaller and less complex projects.
- Assist SPM and PM in managing larger, more complex jobs and key customers.
- Maintain expected profit levels and ensure accurate, timely order entry.
- Collaborate with the assigned project coordinator to manage the submittal process, ensuring materials meet specifications and quoted items.
- Maintain open communication with all project stakeholders, providing timely and professional responses to inquiries.
- Ensure vendors fulfill obligations to H2I Group and customers while maintaining professional relationships.
- Order vendor products per company processes and develop/coordinate schedules to ensure on-time project completion.
- Prepare and submit change orders, reflecting cost/sell price adjustments and identifying upsell opportunities.
- Remove obstacles to timely customer payments and assist in forecasting, billing schedules, and taxable product determinations.
- Attend site meetings as required and maintain customer relations with site coordinators and other trades.
- Review and manage projects in accordance with contract terms and conditions.
- Participate in negotiations with customers, architects, and subcontractors to protect company interests.
- Work with the Sales team to develop and nurture client relationships.
- Attend internal/external training and assist in training Project Manager Interns and Project Coordinators.
- Travel to job sites for inspections, meetings (e.g., Trade Coordination, Installation Coordination), and company presentations.
- Develop internal and external relationships to meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager to improve and enhance company processes.
- Comply with company safety procedures, report hazards, and report work-related injuries or illnesses.
- Perform additional activities as assigned by the Operations Manager.
Qualifications
- Degree in a related field and/or practical work experience.
- Strong technical and organizational skills, with excellent written and verbal communication in a professional environment.
- Solid interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, dependability, enthusiasm, and ethical judgment.
- Strong quantitative analysis and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to learn technical specifications of H2I Group’s products and competitors’ offerings.
- Self-motivated with the ability to maintain an organized and clean workspace.
- Foster positive teamwork relationships with vendors and colleagues.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without Visa sponsorship.
