About the role

Garver is seeking a Transportation Project Engineer to join our growing team in the Franklin, TN area. We are looking for high achievers looking to grow and develop their career with us through our technical and professional development programs and diverse career opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with engineering design tasks for state DOT’s and local agencies’ roadway projects, including development of horizontal and vertical geometry, corridor modeling including roadside design, development of open and closed drainage systems, utility coordination, signing and marking, and erosion and sediment control.
  • Prepare plans, cost estimates, reports, and calculations required for client deliverable packages.
  • Interact with design teams, clients, and project stakeholders.
  • Represent Garver at industry events and in professional organizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineer Intern (EI)
  • 1–3 years of transportation design experience
  • Familiarity with the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Green Book, the Roadside Design Guide, and the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)
  • Good interpersonal skills and a team-first mentality
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Preferred Requirements/Skills

  • Proficiency with Bentley products, particularly OpenRoads Designer
  • Previous experience in consulting engineering with a primary focus on transportation projects in Tennessee
