Project Engineer

An integral part of the project team, the Project Engineer actively contributes to team activities, shares experiences and ideas, participates in discussions, asks questions, and communicates clearly and precisely. Typically working with moderate guidance, the Project Engineer is accountable for individual results and impact on the work group. Must be dependable, punctual, and work with integrity on projects and in interactions with coworkers, owners, clients, and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Regularly attend project meetings with the project manager and generate minutes (including both PM and PE notes).
• Draft agendas for sub-coordination meetings.
• Facilitate and support management and field supervision staff as required.
• Communicate with subcontractors via all forms of communication and report outcomes to the project manager.
• Verify all materials submitted through the submittal process are per the project documents.
• Take part in pre-installation meetings.
• Review installation means and methods with the superintendent and verify fit and finish meets plans and specifications.
• Work on routine assignments while recognizing the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice.
• Know and understand the main "Scope of Works" for subcontractors onsite.
• Generate RFIs and track through submission, review, and distribution.
• Draft documents under minimal review and direction of others.
• Maintain ASI, CCD, RFI, and Field Logs with oversight from immediate supervisor.
• Create and maintain the Submittal Log in Procore.
• Ensure approved submittals are distributed to all required parties and maintained in the file system and project management database.
• Create and maintain project closeout requirements.
• Maintain As-built Drawings.
• Assist Project Administrator with drafting Subcontracts and Purchase Orders.
• Perform basic review of Sub Cost Proposals and review with immediate supervisor.
• Assist with project CPM schedule updates.
• Keep digital drawings current and active in Procore and manage user access with supervision.
• Review and draft daily and weekly reports for review by Superintendent.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or construction management.
• Minimum 3-5 years of commercial construction experience.
• Experience with Primavera P6 scheduling software preferred.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Pass a Pre-Employment Drug Test.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

This position works in a professional office environment and on construction jobsites, routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. While performing duties, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme conditions at construction job sites, with loud noise levels and outside weather conditions.

• Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and use a computer.
• Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• May lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Pay

The salary range for this position is between $65,000 and $95,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications.
