Project Engineer
About the role
Follett currently has an opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our team! Since 1948, Follett Products, LLC, has led the industry in designing and manufacturing high-quality, innovative ice storage bins, ice storage and transport systems, ice machines, ice and water dispensers, ice and beverage dispensers, and medical-grade refrigerators and freezers for the food service and healthcare industries.
Responsibilities
- Lead & direct engineering personnel in the development and launch of new product designs, and the completion and implementation of improvements for existing products. Develop product & project cost estimates, project schedules, and identify resource needs.
- Develops product design concepts that meet customer requirements and performance standards; completes engineering analysis and technical feasibility investigations.
- Utilize 3D CAD tools to develop and communicate design concepts; direct the completion and models, layouts, and details for products assemblies and components.
- Ensure completion and accuracy of a complete design documentation package for product release including appropriate design files, drawings, component specifications, item descriptions and BOM’s.
- Develop qualification test plans and procedures to assure that the performance and reliability of product designs meet objectives; complete the analysis and documentation of results.
- Ensure adherence of both new and existing products to the requirements of UL, NSF, CE, and other relevant agency / government regulations by maintaining knowledge of requirements and providing direction for compliance.
- Lead problem resolution efforts including root-cause analysis of field or factory related product problems; develop and implement appropriate solutions.
- Provide direction to the model shop for the fabrication and assembly of prototypes and test set-ups.
- Participate in the strategic product planning process for identifying and defining product development/improvement projects to support business growth objectives.
- Complete competitive product reviews; stay abreast of industry design trends and technological developments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
- Mid-level engineering position; 5-10 years of professional experience.
- Demonstrated product development / project management experience.
- AutoCAD Inventor experience.
- In-depth knowledge of various appliance type controls and components.
- Demonstrated unit qualification testing knowledge and experience; performance and reliability.
- Agency listing experience with UL, NSF, CE, etc. for product safety and sanitation.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Project.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Schedule
Regular working hours are typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines.
Pay
Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in office, lab and shop floor environment (temperature controlled/non-temperature controlled)
- Extended periods of sitting, standing and walking.
- Lifting/moving objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Regular use of hands and fingers to type on keyboard, operate computer mouse, use of telephone and various office equipment.
- Extended periods of viewing computer monitor.
- Noise level in work environment: low to moderate.
Travel Requirements
Travel within US (10%) as needed to conduct site visits with suppliers, customers, industry meetings and training programs.
