About the role
The Project Engineer will play a vital role as the key support to the Senior Project Manager on large-scale, complex construction projects. This individual will collaborate closely with project management and estimating teams, bridging the gap between project execution and accurate cost forecasting.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Estimating department to prepare detailed project estimates, budgets, and cost analyses.
- Continuously monitor project costs and expenditures, providing real-time feedback to the Senior Project Manager.
- Support the development and maintenance of cost control systems to track and manage variances.
- Aid in developing and maintaining project strategies, including scope, objectives, timelines, and budgets.
- Cook up with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, Field Operations) to gather input and align project goals.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, ensuring alignment with project specifications.
- Help develop and maintain detailed project schedules using industry-standard scheduling software.
- Maintain project milestones, proactively identify schedule risks, and recommend mitigation actions to the Senior Project Manager.
- Ensure timely updates of project deliverables to all relevant stakeholders.
- Work with Quality Control teams to ensure project activities meet industry standards and client requirements.
- Verify that construction practices comply with safety regulations and company policies.
- Support the Senior Project Manager in identifying and assessing project risks (technical, financial, and schedule).
- Develop and maintain risk mitigation plans, tracking ongoing risk factors, and suggesting corrective actions.
- Aid in addressing change orders, scope modifications, and unforeseen challenges.
- Coordinate with clients and other external stakeholders under the guidance of the Senior Project Manager, ensuring clear and consistent communication.
- Provide regular project status updates and gather feedback to maintain positive working relationships.
- Aid in client inquiries, issues, and change requests in collaboration with the Senior Project Manager.
- Assist in preparing and distributing project status reports, cost-tracking documents, and performance metrics.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project records, including meeting minutes and action items.
- Contribute to project presentations, ensuring data is current and effectively communicated.
- Support the Senior Project Manager in reviewing and managing project contracts.
- Track compliance with contract terms and conditions, coordinating with legal and internal teams when needed.
- Identify and escalate potential contractual disputes or variations promptly.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in estimating, project coordination, or construction management.
- Demonstrated proficiency in project management software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical skills with proven ability to interpret and manage budgets, estimates, and cost reports.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and influence cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of construction industry practices, regulations, and safety standards.
- Ability to travel to project sites as required.
