Project Engineer

EBI Consulting is seeking an early-career professional to join our team as a Project Engineer, conducting due diligence services for our nationally recognized practice. This role involves field assessments of commercial properties, interviews, and independent research to produce comprehensive reports.

About the role

This fully remote, work-from-home position reports directly to the Associate Area Operations Manager. The majority of clients are located in or around Los Angeles, CA, so candidates must already be established in this market. The role is field-based with upwards of 50% local and regional travel expected.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site reconnaissance, interviews, and independent research for commercial properties, including multifamily residential, retail, office, self-storage, manufacturing, industrial, hospitality, healthcare, and warehouse/distribution facilities.
• Prepare deliverables with quality supporting documentation such as site figures and appendices.
• Produce assessment reports, including:
  • Property Condition Assessments (PCAs) to ASTM E2018 standards.
  • Property Needs Assessments (PNAs).
  • Property Assessment Screening services.
  • Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) to ASTM E1527 standards.
  • Client-specific reports addressing the current condition of building and site components (e.g., roof, façade, HVAC), evaluating effective useful life, and recommending replacement or repair timing.
• Travel on short notice (one week or less) as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• 3-5+ years of professional experience in engineering and due diligence consulting, construction, facilities management, or other real estate consulting services.
• Experience or familiarity with obtaining data for ASTM E1527 Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and Property Condition Assessments (PCAs) to ASTM E2018 standards.
• Previous experience with travel and comfort with a field-based model (50% local/regional travel).

Pay

The reasonable estimate of the salary range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000. The salary range describes the minimum to maximum base salary across applicable US locations. This position may also be eligible for a bonus, whereby total compensation may exceed base salary depending on individual performance.
