About the role

The Project Engineer will review project proposals, specifications, and inspection reports to determine engineering requirements, feasibility, and procedures. Responsibilities include creating and reviewing engineering drawings, designing centrifugal pump components, sharing drafting resources, specifying and purchasing engineered equipment, and creating shop routings that detail project procedures and tasks. The role involves functional leadership for planning, organizing, and coordinating engineering and design activities.

Responsibilities

• Participate in and contribute to all phases of a project from conceptual design to detailed engineering, equipment fabrication, testing, and start-up.
• Plan and coordinate the engineering phase of projects, including preparation of design basis, process requirements, specifications, technical documents, package design, and testing.
• Ensure effective communication and coordination between all engineering and design disciplines.
• Perform engineering calculations and analyses related to process design; size and select mechanical and process equipment such as pumps, pressure vessels, filters, blowers, heat exchangers, valves, and instruments.
• Solicit supplier quotations and review them for technical compliance, budget, and delivery constraints; approve supplier engineering and design documents.
• Review package design and components for compliance with industry standards, engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements.
• Develop and/or collect engineering and QA documents required for design, customer approval, and fabrication (e.g., Design Book, Equipment List, Valve List, Specialty Item List, Equipment Data Sheets, P&IDs, QA Procedures).
• Coordinate package integration with customer equipment and communicate directly with customers to resolve technical issues.
• Evaluate and acknowledge changes to technical documents during all project phases, including startup and commissioning.
• Interact with shop personnel to solve engineering issues discovered during production.
• Participate in equipment testing and start-up.
• Perform other duties as assigned for projects or company standards development.

Requirements

• Broad knowledge of various engineering disciplines, including Chemical (Process), Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls, and Materials, with special emphasis on Process and Mechanical.
• Technical awareness to recognize and address developing problems across disciplines and initiate corrective actions.
• Previous experience using Inventor.
• Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office, primarily Excel and Word.
• Ability to read, understand, and develop engineering drawings such as PFDs, P&IDs, GA’s, Structural Drawings, and Piping Isometrics.
• Familiarity with industry and company standards, customer contract requirements, and related technical specifications.
• Strong communication skills to convey information effectively to Project Managers, team members, and shop personnel.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Knowledge of engineering software such as Aspen Plus, Compress, Risa3D, and Caesar II is a plus.
• Detail-oriented, organized, proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Engineering, or 4+ years of relevant experience preferred.
